Roundtables
We co-create the roundtable discussions with nature Developers, Beneficiaries, and Supporters, to make sure we make something which works for people and the planet. We’ve separated out these groups for convenience, but reality is not black and white so people will wear many hats. Similar to how we like to see different parts of an ecosystem, from mushrooms to birds all with their own collection of hats.
Who we're creating it with
Developers
These are the experts in blue-green infrastructure - the ones that help to restore, protect, rewild, or otherwise create natural solutions to societal problems. They’re the people on the ground such as ecologists, farmers, land owners, reserve managers, to name a few.
They might know leaf from leaf, how to test for environmental DNA, or perhaps how catchment areas can be cultivated.
Beneficiaries
Those that benefit from nature. The benefits can take the form of secured supply chains, food and water security, or extreme weather risk management. This group is sometimes referred to as Buyers as they are ultimately the ones who will purchase or pay for nature. Corporates will often fall into this group; perhaps they’re trying to secure their cotton supply chains or reduce the environmental impact of their mining. We also have groups which represent beneficiaries who do not have the money to pay themselves, such as councils, governments, NGOs, and foundations.
Supporters
Supporters are the ones that help in some way; they may provide software or hardware for monitoring, provide environmental consultancy, engage with stakeholders, or otherwise sell something that helps (saplings, recruitment, drones, training, etc).
It would also include academic researchers, reporting organisations, and many others.This group is the most diverse, with a huge variation in the skill sets and level of connection to NbS.
