Community solar and storage

Exploring how local generation and battery storage can support dependable energy services and community benefit.

Development and modelling

The project question

A technically useful asset still needs a workable operating model, realistic revenue assumptions and an accountable owner.

Our work brings asset scenarios, operating costs and ownership options into a common decision framework. Acquisition and operating arrangements remain project specific.

Research and feasibility

Review half-hourly demand and generation, grid connection limits, equipment condition, warranties, market access and community objectives.

Technical and financial modelling

Build generation and dispatch cases; test degradation, replacement expenditure, curtailment, tariffs and non-overlapping revenue streams. Link cash available for debt service to debt sizing and reserve needs.

Commercial structuring options

Compare lease, energy-service company, power purchase agreement, acquisition vehicle and phased community-transfer options. Set out control, maintenance and risk allocation for legal review.

Asset management and monitoring

Track availability, metered output, billing, maintenance, budget variance, reserve balances and community distributions.

Example brief

Assess the operating and commercial options for a solar-plus-storage asset.

A scoped engagement can produce an evidence brief, assumptions register, scenario model, commercial-options comparison and a prioritised plan for further diligence. The exact outputs depend on the brief.
